FAQs

When is Open Studios taking place?

Open Studios takes place on 14 & 15 October 2026. Studios will open their doors to the public between 5pm-8pm each day.

Wednesday 14 October will be studios based in De Waterkant, CBD and Gardens hubs, and on Thursday 15 October studios based in Woodstock, Salt River and Observatory will open their doors.

The full line up will be announced closer to the time. Follow us on Instagram for latest news.

Who can visit?

This event is open to anyone with an interest in architecture and design. It’s an opportunity to see inside the studios that shape our city, and engage with the architects and designers who make it happen.

If you’re a creative interested in the built environment, a fellow professional or just someone who loves great architecture and design - join us!

And if you’re a learner thinking about studying architecture or design, or a student already on their way to qualifying, this is your chance to see inside real working studios! We recommend that school age visitors are accompanied by an adult.

How much does it cost?

This event is free for visitors to attend.

How does it work?

Studios are grouped on different evenings based on their location, so that visitors can easily walk between venues.

There might be some outliers that would need a quick drive (or ride! we encourage alternative transport) but generally there are a few studios close to each other in a cluster.

Printed maps will be available at all studios, so that you can take one with you on your journey. Maps will also be available on this website to download from October, as well as via Instagram. And we’ll also link a Google map with all the studio locations for you.

Which studios are taking part this year?

The full line up of participating studios will be announced in September but watch our socials for features on all participating studios in the meantime!

Can I bring my CV?

While you’re welcome to drop off your CV at the studios, please keep in mind that each team will be very busy managing their event and hosting their visitors, and won’t be able to give you individual attention. You might find some studios will have a tray for CV applications.

Can I sign up my studio?

Registration is now closed for 2026. If you’re an architecture, interior, landscape or urban design studio based in Cape Town and would like to take part next year, please get in touch.

I’d like to sponsor the event!

We rely on the generous support of our sponsors to run this event, and we’d love to have you on board. Please get in touch with us for sponsorship opportunities.
